A.-Werner @PurePink Ven 30 Nov - 11:33 JFK BIOGRAPHY John Fitzgerald Kennedy more commonly known as JFK is the product of an Irish Catholic family who immigrated to the United States in the 19th century. He is the second child of a sibling of 10 children. He was born on May 29, 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts. His father, Joseph Kennedy was an ambitious politician. JF Kennedy studied at Harvard and after he had finished, he also had to serve in the war. In 1960, Kennedy was nominated to run for the presidency against Richard Nixon. Nixon made the mistake of meeting Kennedy in televised debates where Kennedy came off as young and vital. Kennedy became the 35th President of the United States and the first Catholic elected. In the short time that his terms of office had lasted, from 20 January 1961 to his assassination on 22 November 1963, Kennedy had to deal with many crisis situations. In particular the Cuban missile crisis in response to the failed Bay of Pigs invasion. He will successfully reach an agreement with Nikita Khrushchev. The Soviet Union and the United States will dismantle their missiles. |
